*Rates correct as of 27 February 2012. Interest rate quoted is Annual Equivalent Rate (AER) and illustrates what the interest rate would be if interest was paid and compounded once each year. Tax-free is the contractual rate of interest payable where the interest is exempt from income tax. The favourable tax treatment for Junior Cash ISAs could change.

Who can open a Triodos Ethical Junior Cash ISA?

A Junior Cash ISA can be set up for a child of any age up to 18. Where the child is less than 16 years of age the account must be opened by a person with legal parental responsibility for the child and they themselves must be aged 16 or over.

Children aged 16 to 17 can open the account for themselves.

Interest and tax exemptions

The interest rate is variable, calculated daily and paid twice a year. The interest earned on a Junior Cash ISA is tax-free.

Withdrawals

Withdrawals from or the closure of a Junior ISA is not permitted until the child is 18 years old. Transferring the whole of the balance to another Junior ISA provider is however permitted.

Further payments into a Triodos Ethical Junior Cash ISA once the annual limit in any tax year is reached are not possible, regardless of withdrawals.
