Using your account

With a growing business and charity customer base, we have developed a service to meet a wide range of banking requirements, including:

You can add to your account:

  • by instructing another bank or building society to make a regular standing order or single electronic payment (known as BACS) from your account with them to your account at Triodos Bank
  • by bank giro credit (for cash or cheques) across the counter at any UK bank or building society using one of our paying-in slips. You may be charged for this or any other counter service
  • by Faster Payments, a faster way of transferring funds to other UK accounts than a regular BACS payment. In most cases the payments will be made on the same day
  • by CHAPS, a guaranteed 'same day' electronic payments system, within the UK
  • by post with a paying-in slip or letter using our Freepost address (Triodos Bank, Freepost BS9292, Bristol, BS8 3FA) - we cannot accept cash by post.

You start earning interest on your deposits on the day they reach us. To withdraw money from your account, use a Triodos Bank withdrawal form or send us a letter with your payment instructions. Once your chosen notice period has passed, we can:

  • transfer the money (by BACS) directly to another bank account of your choice
  • for a charge, make electronic payment (CHAPS) within the UK or overseas
  • for a charge, make electronic payment within the UK using Faster Payments, providing that the destination bank is able to accept them. You can check your destination sort code to see if the bank accepts Faster Payments at www.canipayfaster.co.uk
  • at our discretion, you can withdraw your money before the end of your notice period, but a charge will be applied.
