Triodos Doen Foundation was started in 1994 as a unique form of cooperation between DOEN Foundation and Triodos Bank. Its objective was to create a Fund that can provide finance to projects and institutions that contribute to sustainable development and social innovation, in the fields of development cooperation and nature and the environment. This involves finance in the form of loans, equity participations and guarantees. Finance provided by Triodos-Doen Foundation has a considerable risk-bearing character and is provided in situations where an ordinary bank loan is not or not yet possible, for example because no security can be provided.
Hivos-Triodos Fund was founded in 1994 as a joint initiative between the Humanist Institute for Development Cooperation and Triodos Bank. This Fund makes it possible for people in the North to become involved, through special savings account and by giving guarantees, in grassroot economic development in the South. The aim of the Fund is to provide loans, guarantees and equity to organisations that specialise in providing micro-credit loans to people and groups that otherwise have no or difficult access to finance and who are active in trade or production while meeting specific social and/or environmental criteria.
Solar Development Group is a source of capital and strategic business development support for enterprises in the off-grid energy service sector with potential for profitable growth. Eligible companies include retailers or distributors of solar home systems or other related products; renewable energy service companies, system integrators, banks and leasing companies with consumer credit programmes for PV solar systems, importers of solar products and local equipment assemblers and manufacturers of solar modules and system components.
