A new home for sustainability
Triodos has a new home which reflects our values and meets the same rigorous environmental standards as the organisations we finance. Based in the centre of Bristol, our new office is one of the most sustainable in the UK.
Bristol's greenest office space
The Triodos Bristol office is one of the most sustainable in the UK and is part of the same development as the Environment Agency's national headquarters.
The site was neglected for over 10 years until Westmark Developments and the Environment Agency collaborated to undertake the most environmentally advanced development in Bristol.
Eco-friendly building materials, locally sourced as far as possible, have been used throughout, as well as reusing aggregates from the previous building on the same site.
The development sets a new benchmark in sustainable city centre offices and has been awarded an 'excellent' BREEAM* rating of 85.06%. The site features include: rainwater harvesting, solar panels, energy efficient lighting sensors, low usage water systems and a Building Management System that regulates the temperature of the building.
Along with the challenges of developing a new UK headquarters in Bristol, our team in Scotland have also moved to a new office right in the very heart of Edinburgh. Our new city-centre locations will increase our visibility, while giving us the space to grow to meet increasing demand.
A great deal of planning, thought and research has gone into every element of our new buildings. We've rigorously challenged suppliers and ourselves in our choices to ensure that everything brought into the building reflects our values and goals. We've thoroughly questioned designers and manufacturers, and had many interesting dilemmas and intense discussions on what we should allow into our new homes.
With contributions from local artists, our Triodos customers and co workers, we hope our new UK headquarters will be more than just a functional working space - somewhere where it's a pleasure to work and to visit, and a hub for events and social and environmental activities in the local area.
We're really pleased with the result. It's different from what you might expect from a bank's head office; but then Triodos is a very different kind of bank.

*BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) is an environmental standard that rates the sustainability of buildings in the UK. The BREEAM environmental assessment aims to minimise environmental impact by ensuring sustainability best practices are in place while also lowering organisation's costs through energy efficiency.
