Blades of Eye wind turbines now turning
Wind farm starts delivering renewable energy to the grid
25-03-2013 | Triodos Renewables PLC's Eye wind farm has started to deliver green electricity to the national grid. The project is located on an industrial site in Eye, Suffolk and is the ninth project of the Triodos Renewables portfolio to be connected to the grid.
The site will generate sufficient green electricity to meet the power needs of the equivalent of 2830* homes. Part of the energy from the turbines will be bought by the Roy Humphrey Group, which hosts the turbines. The project will meet 80% of the Roy Humphrey's groups demand at the site, providing them with competitively priced green energy.
"We are very pleased to commence generating at our ninth site. With Eye's inclusion Triodos Renewables now operates sufficient renewable capacity to meet the home equivalent of 28,000 homes."
Matthew Clayton, Managing Director Triodos Renewables
Commenting on today's announcement, Triodos Renewables Managing Director Matthew Clayton says "This year will be another exciting year for Triodos Renewables. Eye is the first project of three planned additions to our portfolio, increasing our capacity by 41%.
"The commissioning of the Eye is a significant milestone which has been made possible by, amongst others, our host Roy Humphreys Group, the developers Wind Direct and local civil contractor RJ Carters. We are delighted to be adding a further brownfield site to Triodos Renewables' porfolio "
