Triodos Renewables boosts portfolio with stake in 10MW windfarm
This acquisition, combined with other new projects, represents a 20% growth in Triodos Renewables' power generation capacity already in 2013.
21-03-2013 | Triodos Renewables today announces the joint acquisition of a 49.8% stake in Ransonmoor windfarm in Cambridgeshire. Triodos Renewables, together with Triodos Renewables Europe Fund, bought the shares from Fenpower ltd which owns the windfarm.
Kim de Boer, fund manager of Triodos Renewables Europe Fund: "We are very pleased with this joint acquisition with Triodos Renewables. It is the first investment we've made in the UK renewables market and we hope it will be the first of many more to follow. The renewable energy market in the United Kingdom represents ample opportunities and with a network already present within the Triodos group, our fund is well positioned to enter this market."
"This acquisition, combined with the commissioning of the Eye wind farm on 12th of March, represents a 20% growth in Triodos Renewables' power generation capacity already in 2013, with a further 20% increase planned for later this year."
Matthew Clayton, Managing Director Triodos Renewables
Matthew Clayton, managing director of Triodos Renewables comments: "We've got off to a great start to the year, and it's rewarding for our shareholders to see their money actively invested in green energy generation. The investment into the operational wind farm has many benefits including the immediate delivery of environmental and financial returns to our shareholders, and the sum paid for the shareholding in the business will contribute to the construction of a further 10MW wind farm in the area."
Ransonmoor is a five turbine, 10MW onshore wind farm which has been operating since 2007. The project generates enough green electricity to supply the equivalent to 5,720 homes
The investment in the joint venture strengthens relationships with the co-investors and financing parties, which supports Triodos Renewables and Triodos Renewables Europe Fund's growth plans in UK renewables.
