The Hive, a social enterprise set up to help local SMEs grow, is owned and managed by North Somerset Enterprise Agency (NSEA), a not-for-profit organisation that aims to stimulate, encourage and support local enterprise to create a healthy local economy.
It has 20,000 sq. ft of rentable managed office space with communal facilities, providing up to 60 tenants with unfurnished offices, easy-in and easy-out terms, dedicated and secure broadband and a managed business reception. Tenants also benefit from on-site business support from the NSEA’s experienced, knowledgeable and locally-based team of business advisors.
The Hive's resources are also available to non-tenants; virtual office services and the Hive Express business lounge plus other meeting and conference rooms are available to book by the hour or full day.
The new development, located just off Junction 21 of the M5 in the Business Quarter of Weston Park, has been enabled by an investment from the European Regional Development Fund, alongside funding from NSEA a £1million loan from sustainable bank, Triodos.
Angela Hicks, NSEA Chief Executive said: "As a small, local enterprise agency, we are very proud to have delivered this new business development centre to North Somerset, especially as all surplus funds made from The Hive will be reinvested into local enterprise development and business support."
Mark Ogden from Triodos says The Hive has the potential to be a huge help to Weston’s economy
"We were attracted to the project initially because, not only were the NSEA planning to create a business centre that would have a hugely positive impact on the local community, but also, because the building itself was to be environmentally sustainable. We are therefore delighted to have helped to fund this first-class workspace which offers young businesses in North Somerset the opportunity to thrive."
In addition to a smart professional business environment The Hive offers sustainable transport options with pool cycles available for tenants and an electric vehicle charger.
