Banco Itapúa is a niche bank in Paraguay with a strong focus on small and medium-sized agricultural producers, a group that is largely unattended by the larger banks. In fact, in many cases Banco Itapúa has been one of the first loan providers for farmers. Banco Itapúa is predominantly active in the southeast of the country and is deeply rooted in the community. It also contributes to rural development by supporting community projects, such as the financing of housing projects for the poor, and the promotion of financial education among children. Triodos Microfinance Fund and Triodos Fair Share Fund have provided a loan to Banco Itapúa to realise its growth ambitions.
