Organic farming (Environment)

Triodos Bank provided financial support to Riverford to help them transfer 74% of the company ownership to employees. Founder-owner Guy Singh-Watson completed the move after more than 10 years of research and reflection over the future of the company with a strong desire to protect its independence and values.

Veg box business Riverford was founded in 1987, and since then, the company has grown to more than 650 people, delivering vegetables to 50,000 homes a week. With employee ownership 74% of the company has moved into an Employee Trust, benefiting all employees equally.

Organic farming

Organic agriculture recognises the relationship between our environment, our health and the food we eat. As well as high animal welfare standards, organics avoids the use of pesticides and chemical fertilisers and helps to revitalize the earth. And, because organic farming releases less greenhouse gases than non-organic farming, it means a smaller carbon footprint for the environment. Lending in this sector varies from dairy and meat, to forestry and fruit.
