Picture Perfect - Triodos Bank launches Social Enterprise Photo Competition
Triodos Bank has set out to capture compelling images of a more progressive approach to business, with the launch of Social Vision 2009. Now in its second year, the competition will find the photographs that best highlight the valuable work of social enterprises across the UK and Ireland.
“Social vision is a chance to celebrate the inspiring work of enterprise that values people and the planet as well as profit,” says Triodos Bank Relationship Manager Paul Nicoll. “This is your chance to show us the passion, people and places using enterprise to drive positive change”.
And as well as the kudos of winning, there’s a cash prize up for grabs for the best photographer and the social enterprise pictured. Both the winning photographer and the social enterprise featured will win £750. Entries from social enterprises themselves are encouraged.
The competition closes on 4 September 2009 when the judges will choose twelve finalists. These images will be used to create a calendar which will be sent with the December issue of Social Enterprise magazine. The overall winner will be announced at a special event in November.
Speaking at an exhibition of the competition’s 12 best images, photographer Andre Pattendon - whose winning image captured circus performers at Bristol’s drama school Circomedia – said, "I'm thrilled that one of my photographs has been chosen as the winning entry, especially when the project is so worthwhile and is one that I have been personally involved with from the start."
Circomedia’s Carol Sherman also welcomed the success; "I'm so excited that some of the work we do with young people in Bristol has been recognised in this way. It's fantastic and they will love seeing themselves in print!"
