Solar plant VRD
Renewable energy (Environment)
Solar plant VRD consists of five solar panel installations, placed on the roofs of transport company VRD’s logistical centers in Flanders. The total capacity of the five panel installations is 3.1 MW, with which 600 households can be provided with green electricity. The plant is developed and owned by our Belgian partner Orka NV, which also developed and owns another TREF investment: Solar plant Puurs. Triodos Renewables Europe Fund has facilitated the construction of solar plant VRD through a subordinated loan.
Energy is a necessity in modern life but the current dependence on fossil fuels to provide it has a high environmental and social impact. We believe that a fundamental transition is needed away from a carbon based economy to a renewable one. By lending and investing in this sector we try to stimulate this transition, with our main focus on financing solar, wind and hydro energy.
