How to connect your Triodos Business account to Xero


This service is available to all Triodos Business current account customers. To get started with Xero: Sign up with Xero and create an organisation


  • First Time Xero Users:
    • Visit the Xero sign-up page on their website Go to the Xero sign up page
    • Enter your details, agree to the Terms of Use and privacy policy, and click " Get started.
    • Open the activation email from Xero and follow the instructions.
    • Create a password and activate your account. (Password must contain at least eight characters and one number.)
    • Once your account is activated, you can start using Xero by adding an organisation
  • Existing Xero Users:
    • You will need to be registered for Triodos internet banking to connect your Triodos Business account to Xero.
    • Once you have connected your Triodos Business account to Xero, you can choose to import up to 12 months’ worth of historical transactions.
    • You don’t need to manually refresh the bank feed, your transactions will automatically import into Xero twice a day.
  • Connect to Triodos Bank

    You will need to be registered for Triodos internet banking to connect your Triodos Business account to Xero. Once you have successfully registered for Triodos internet banking. Follow these steps:

    • In the Accounting menu, select "Bank Accounts." Click Add Bank Account.
    • Start typing Triodos, then select Triodos Bank from the list.

    If Triodos bank account type doesn’t appear in the list, check your spelling or try using a different country. If you still get no results, this means there are no feeds available for this bank. Click the button in the message that appears to add your account details and manually import bank statements into the account.

    • You'll be redirected to Triodos Bank internet banking to log in. Enter your online banking credentials and any multi-factor authentication you typically need to log in.
    • Select the accounts you want to share with Xero and complete the sharing steps before you're redirected back to Xero.
    • Check the right bank accounts have been selected. Choose a different bank account if necessary, or add a new account, then click Continue.
    • Confirm the date you’d like your transactions to start from. You can import up to 12 months' worth of transactions initially. For bank accounts already in Xero, this will default to the last transactions imported into the account and there's no need to change it.
    • Click Finish.
