Over 70% of the local community are members of the trust, which actively supports a wide variety of projects. In July 2011 Sleat Community Trust took over the Tormore Forest, which it will manage sustainably to provide a vital economic boost to the local area. Funding for the takeover came from a range of sources, including Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Highland Council and Triodos Bank.
