The Conservatoire has been welcoming music, art and drama education students to its home in Blackheath, South London, for nearly 140 years. Famous alumni include Kate Bush, Gary Oldman, Jools Holland and Daniel Day Lewis. Central to the organisation's ethos is the sense that the arts are genuinely transforming: they not only enrich lives, but also offer opportunities to build social and creative capital. The Conservatoire works closely with local schools, charities and children's centres to identify and support people of all ages to access the creative arts and is increasingly involved in outreach projects for disadvantaged individuals and communities in Greenwich and Lewisham.
