Why we're removing overdrafts and how we can support you

From 17 June 2024, we will no longer be taking applications for new overdrafts or extensions on existing overdrafts on our Personal Current Account.

As a bank, we are committed to delivering positive impact. This involves providing specialist, sustainable finance for entrepreneurs and organisations working to tackle the biggest challenges of our time.

This focus requires us to acknowledge there are some products and features that we will be unable to offer our customers. To remain sustainable and efficient, we must prioritise in certain areas and consider our ability to maintain a high standard of customer service.

We understand that an arranged overdraft option has been a valuable resource for some of our customers. We apologise for any inconvenience the removal of this option may cause. Although the decision impacts a small proportion of our customers, we took this step after careful consideration and a thorough review of all our services.

Using feedback from customers, we are working hard on making improvements in other areas and the service we offer.

What is going to happen to my agreed overdraft limit?

In the communication sent to you on 17 April 2024, you will find what the impact is on your account and what action you need to take. If you need to speak to someone please give us a call on 0330 355 0355.

What do I do if I need financial support?

If you are in financial difficulty or need to discuss repaying your overdraft facility please contact us on 0330 355 0355 (+44 117 973 9339 if calling from outside the UK).

Overdrafts are designed to be a form of short-term borrowing and are not intended for extended use. For further assistance with debt and managing your finances please visit our support pages where we list a number of specialist organisations who will be able to help you.

I want to switch to Triodos but I have an overdraft on my account elsewhere, what happens?

Before you switch, you will need to pay your overdraft off with your existing provider. Once this is done you can submit a request to switch your account to Triodos.

I want to close my account, what do I do?

If you wish to close your Triodos Personal Current Account, please follow the instructions below. If the account is a joint account, we will need both account holders to send a request.

To close your account:

Please bring your account balance to nil.
Then send us a secure message in internet banking with the account number you wish to close or alternatively you can call us.
