The £11m care home was funded in part by lending from Triodos Bank UK, which offers impact-focused lending across social and environmental sectors. The funding was announced in 2021 and was part of a £20m package that included a refinance of Parklands’s existing portfolio across the north of Scotland.
Ron Taylor, managing director of Parklands Care Homes, said: “We’re really proud to be opening the doors to Pittyvaich, our new flagship care home. Our aim as a care home group is to support the people we care for and help contribute to our local communities. For Pittyvaich, this wider impact includes investing in the future of care in Inverness – creating jobs, supporting families, and building a care facility that will serve this community for years to come.”
“Securing the finance from Triodos Bank UK was instrumental in us getting this project off the ground. We’re pleased that, with their thorough understanding of the sector and the challenging environment we operate in, they’ve been able to support us on our growth journey over the past four years.”
Ben Honeyman, senior relationship manager at Triodos Bank UK, added: “Our lending to care homes is focused on organisations that offer high-quality, specialist care and support a better quality of life. It’s clear that the team at Parklands reflect this in everything that they do and we’re pleased to support them in expanding their care to more people across Scotland.”
Residents of Pittyvaich Care Home will enjoy access to a café, salon, lounges, activities room, quiet spaces and landscaped gardens. Many of the home's spacious rooms offer commanding views over the Moray Firth. Located close to a school, nursery and churches, Parklands hope Pittyvaich will become an integral part of the local community. Once fully operational, it is expected to create around 120 jobs in the local area.
This care home is the first stage in Parklands’ plan to develop an integrated care community in Inverness – the first of its kind in the Highlands. Future phases will include a later living village, designed to support independent living for older people, and key worker apartments, helping to ease pressure on local housing and support recruitment.
