Triodos At Charity Finance Group’s Annual Conference

Head of corporate finance to discuss how charities can secure new sources of finance

Dan Hird, head of corporate finance at Triodos Bank UK, will be speaking at Charity Finance Group's Annual Conference which takes place this Thursday 18 May at the QEII Centre in London.

The conference, which is aimed at finance professionals working in the charity sector, will comprise a range of speakers, workshops and panel discussions that will tackle the major challenges facing the sector.

Dan will lend his expert knowledge on raising charity capital to a panel discussion at 11.25am entitled 'New Sources of Funding.' he will share insight on how charities can access new forms of funding at a range of risk profiles, including charity bonds, social enterprise funding, and social impact bonds. He will also outline the appetite for these investments with retail investors and explain how government schemes such as the Innovative Finance ISA (IF ISA) and Social Investment Tax Relief (SITR) can be powerful tools to amplify impact.

The Triodos Bank corporate finance team has raised over £89.5m for clients since 2011 with specific expertise in securing capital for charities. In the discussion, Dan will draw on this experience, including:
- £10m bond issue for Golden Lane Housing in 2013;
- £280k SITR bond for Southville Community Development Association in 2017;
- £600k social impact bond for Ambition East Midlands in 2015.

Also taking part of the panel discussion will be Nick Temple of Social Enterprise UK and Lesley Dixon of Person Shaped Support.
