Tell us about your role & a bit about your career background.

I joined the bank in 2012 as an HR intern on a one-year placement as part of my University Degree in Business Studies with Human Resource Management. This placement was one of my first experiences of working in a professional environment, and I learnt so much from it both through the opportunities I was given and the invaluable support that I had from my managers. When my placement came to an end I went back to university for the final year of my studies, and after completing my degree I was successful in applying for a permanent role as HR Assistant at Triodos. I am now studying my level 7 CIPD qualification alongside my role, through which I am gaining a solid understanding within some of the more advanced areas of HR which will support me in developing my career further.

Why did you choose to come and work at Triodos?

At first I was just looking for a placement to gain experience alongside my degree, but my motivation changed as soon as I realised what Triodos was about. I knew I wanted to be part of the work and the impact that Triodos has particularly as I have always had an interest in social projects. I took part in a volunteering project during my gap year, and I found it very exciting that working for Triodos would allow me to contribute to society through what I do every day.

Can you describe what a typical day looks like within your role at Triodos Bank?

Every day is different and that’s what I love. The variety within my role means that I never get bored and I am always learning new things. Some examples of what my day could involve are advising line managers on policy and processes, producing management information on HR data, running payroll for UK co-workers, reviewing our processes to improve efficiency as well as supporting on other projects with the team.

What makes Triodos Bank different to other companies you have worked for?

Everyone is genuinely proud to work here and I think it’s really special that we talk about what we stand for and bring it to life in everything that we do.

What does it feel like to work at Triodos?

I find it very rewarding and I love being part of the work that we do. It is hugely satisfying to be able to have an impact through what I do every day.

How has Triodos Bank had an impact on you?

It really has changed the way I think and made me realise the role that I can have in making positive change, not just through the work that I do but in the decisions that I make in my personal life as well.

What do you do in your free time?

I enjoy doing yoga and I also spend a lot of time walking in the outdoors with my dog so I am always looking for new places to explore. I also love to travel and experience different cultures and ways of life.
