Tell us about your role & a bit about your career background.

I currently work within the Customer Operations Team as a financial security co-ordinator. I have been at Triodos for nearly two years now, starting in the payments team and recently moving in to the financial security co-ordinator role. I am responsible for monitoring customer's transactions and ensuring our customer's money is safe and secure here at Triodos. I previously worked for Barclays Bank for seven years and also a bank in Australia for a year.

Why did you choose to come and work at Triodos?

I chose Triodos as I loved the idea of working for an ethical bank. Going from working in a high street bank where you don't know what your money is being used for or who is actually benefiting from you banking with them, to a company that is so transparent and diverse where you can see depositor's money directly benefiting local companies and charities. I didn't realise this kind of banking even existed - let alone be as successful and have the growth that Triodos has.

How does the work you do within your role/department contribute to the mission of Triodos and what we are trying to achieve?

My role mostly contributes to the high level of quality service that we give to our customers. Ensuring that our customer's money is safe and our customers are protected from fraud is extremely important in Triodos' mission and values.

Can you describe what a typical day looks like within your role at Triodos Bank?

I always start the morning off with a cup of tea and biscuits then onto monitoring customers' transactions, ensuring they are genuine and all above board. I often liaise with different departments and attend meetings to help with the development of new products. Depending on the day, I might attend a meditation session in my lunch break or grab a massage - all within the Triodos office!

What makes Triodos Bank different to other companies you have worked for?

They genuinely care about both their customers and co-workers. The benefits that co-workers receive here are amazing, not to mention the experiences that you have the opportunity to be involved in. You don't feel like just a number, which I often felt I was at other companies. I also know I am directly having a good impact on the environment and local businesses in the South West.

What does it feel like to work at Triodos?

To work for an ethical company that you know is funding positive environmental and social impact on the society where you live is amazing. I am proud to say I work for Triodos, and love the fact I can point out windfarms and organic farms that we support.

What do you like/love about the workplace and the people who work here?

Everyone who works here is on the same page. We all have the same mission and vision and that makes it easy to get along with people and engage in projects together. It is a happy environment with stress levels kept to a minimum as best as possible.

How has Triodos Bank had an impact on you?

Triodos has opened up my eyes to the world that I currently live in and the impacts that we can choose to have on the environment around us. I have learnt so much about organic farming, social housing and also the great customers we work with. I was recently inspired by a work conference I attended in Barcelona, where I visited a Spanish customer who provided a place for unemployed people within Barcelona city to gain help to get back on their feet. They teach them new skills and help with CVs and interviews, all for free. Triodos was their only hope, and 10 years after Triodos helped support their project, they have lowered the unemployment rate in Barcelona and are now helping young kids to get work too. It really hit home that this is what Triodos is all about and I am currently involved in raising money for various charities.

What do you do in your free time?

I am captain of my local hockey team, which takes up a lot of my free time, with organising fixtures, playing and training twice a week! I often organise and help out with charity events at Triodos, such as the Macmillan Bake Sale. Safe to say people who work at Triodos love cake!

We are all different as individuals, but what do you think is the common thread through all Triodos Co-workers.

I feel a common thread that runs through people at Triodos is being kind to one another, both in the working environment and outside.

How would you describe Triodos Bank in one word?
