Tell us about your role & a bit about your career background.
I am the branch internal auditor for Triodos Bank UK. So I am theoretically a head office employee, with the rest of my team based there and at the other branches, but I feel very much a part of the Bristol office too. I've done a few different things before coming to Triodos including working at PwC in their Tax and Transaction Services teams and working as a project manager.
Why did you choose to come and work at Triodos?
It took me a while to realise I needed the right job in the right company. I have found that at Triodos. I love my job and I feel by working at Triodos I can contribute to something bigger, which is closely aligned to my personal ethics.
How does the work you do within your role/department contribute to the mission of Triodos and what we are trying to achieve?
Essentially, my team helps Triodos to carry on its business in a more risk conscious way ensuring we have good control mechanisms in place.
Can you describe what a typical day looks like within your role at Triodos Bank?
Every day is different and every audit is different. On any given day I might be involved with planning, fieldwork or reporting on a particular audit or managing the relationship between Internal audit and the UK branch. The fieldwork stage of an audit typically involves interviewing different co-workers, analysing information, forming views and thinking about solutions.
What makes Triodos Bank different to other companies you have worked for?
The other co-workers. Everyone is focused on the same goal and people go out of their way to help one another.
What does it feel like to work at Triodos?
Satisfying. I feel like I'm contributing to something bigger.
What do you like/love about the workplace and the people who work here?
The office is a comfortable and tactile place to be. The other co-workers are lovely!
How has Triodos Bank had an impact on you?
It has deepened the strength of my personal ethics and challenged me to take these further in my life outside of work - I now choose to eat less meat, buy more organic produce and grow more of my own.
What do you do in your free time?
I'm a keen horse-rider, gardener and crafter and love having dinner parties!
We are all different as individuals, but what do you think is the common thread through all Triodos Co-workers.
Strong ethics, whether that be from a green perspective e.g recycling, or more broadly e.g. looking after your neighbours.
How would you describe Triodos Bank in one word?
Green
