Our Legal and Compliance team helps to ensure that Triodos Bank UK adheres to all applicable laws and regulations and safeguards customers' interests. The team have a wide range of roles and responsibilities, which include developing and maintaining the compliance framework; identifying, mitigating and monitoring risks, providing guidance and query resolution for the business, and preventing the Bank from being used for financial crime; including fraud, money laundering and terrorist financing.

We are pleased to be recruiting for the role of Compliance Monitoring Officer on a 12 month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. Reporting to the Head of Legal and Compliance, this role is responsible for the Branch's Compliance surveillance and monitoring programme. Other key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Leading the UK Compliance surveillance and monitoring activity across all areas of the UK branch, including the Group Compliance risk framework for Compliance themes
  • Scheduling, developing and maintaining the UK Compliance surveillance and monitoring using a risk based approach within the Triodos Group risk appetite with a proactive approach to seeking improvements in monitoring to mitigate the regulatory risk 
  • Delivering final UK regulatory defined "Sign off" on all materials for both current and new products and services (including those related to savings, investments, Corporate Finance, etc.) for compliance with legal and regulatory requirements whilst achieving commercial focus 
  • Confidently and diplomatically determining, in partnership with the business units, clear and timely action plans to mitigate the compliance risk identified to be outside of the Triodos risk appetite during UK Compliance surveillance and monitoring 
  • Completing the UK Compliance surveillance and monitoring programme using project management methodology 
  • Representing UK Compliance as the primary contact for Compliance technical expertise at applicable internal branch meetings, including project meetings 
  • Providing support to local functions on the Compliance themes, whilst having the strength of character and tenacity to follow up any concerns and challenge where appropriate, to deliver accurate and effective mitigation of the compliance risk whilst maintaining a commercial focus 
  • Developing and maintaining the branch compliance policies with focus on those impacting surveillance and monitoring 
  • Maintaining with Group interface, the local inventory of relevant compliance themes, including those where responsibility is allocated to another business unit, such as KYC completion 
  • Producing required reports and action plans for the UK Head of Legal & Compliance

You will possess a solid track record of experience in a compliance related role within financial services, with experience of compliance monitoring, ideally relating to banking, savings and investment products, and also with project management principles. You will have a strategic and working knowledge of the UK financial sector regulators and UK /European regulations including the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), anti-money laundering (AML), data protection and other compliance matters. In return for your commitment and hard work, you will receive a competitive basic of up to £37,500 depending on experience, plus a benefits package including:
