What do the ‘My impact’ indicators in the Triodos Mobile App tell me about the impact of my Impact Funds investments?
In November 2024, we revised the impact indicators we use to more effectively demonstrate how your Impact Fund investments can contribute to creating impact. EU regulations require the use of standardised indicators in sustainability disclosures about negative impacts on sustainability factors. Since these indicators are required by EU regulation, data quality and coverage are expected to improve considerably. These new indicators enable transparency and better comparison within the market.
Within the Triodos Mobile App, you can see greenhouse gas footprint and non-recyclable waste as personalised indicators based on the investments held within your Stocks and Shares ISA and/or Impact Investment Account. As the data availability improves, we will add more indicators, either personalised to your Impact Funds investments or demonstrating the full impact made by each individual Impact Fund.
We show two indicators, which give you an indication of the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced by the companies within the funds you invest in and also their non-recycled waste ratio. More information on how these are calculated is given below.
CO2e footprint of investee companies
Description: The CO2e footprint is a relative measure of scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It is the amount of GHG produced per unit of revenue generated by the company or fund, measured in tonnes of CO2e per EURm generated in revenue. This is expressed as a weighted average and compared against the benchmark selected for that specific Impact Fund.
Rationale: climate impact is a key area of concern for investors. Although the CO2e footprint does not show investments made towards lowering Triodos Investment Management’s footprint, it does show the relatively small size of the footprint compared to the general market.
Non-recycled waste ratio (landfill waste)
Description: For each company the non-recyclable, or landfill waste ratio is the total amount in metric tons of landfill waste produced divided by the amount invested in EURm. This is expressed as a weighted average and compared against the benchmark selected for that specific Impact Investment fund.
Rationale: A healthy ecosystem and a liveable planet are another area of concern for investors. Breaking the chain of take-make-waste and moving to a refuse-reduce-reuse-repurpose-recycle economic system is an important contribution to this aim. Although the landfill waste footprint does not show investments made towards lowering Triodos Investment Management’s footprint, it does show the relatively small size of the footprint compared to the general market.
